SCHEDULE CHANGES due to Trophy Races

For the next few weeks our normal schedule is going to be impacted by the JConcepts Winter Indoor Shootout & Invitational offroad race (November 11-13) and the Hyperdrive 375 carpet oval race (November 18-20).

We will be rebuilding the indoor offroad track beginning Sunday, November 6th. There will be no indoor offroad practice from that Sunday (November 6th) until Monday, November 14th. We do plan to race offroad on Wednesday, November 9th assuming the rebuild is done.

The carpet track will be closed from November 9th through November 14th. Instead of onroad racing we will race carpet oval on Tuesday, November 15th. The track will then be closed except for activities related to the BRL Hyperdrive 375 carpet oval race on November 18,19 & 20. There will be no offroad racing on Saturday, November 19th.

We will also race carpet oval on Tuesday night, November 22nd. We will return to carpet onroad racing on Sunday, November 27th and follow our normal schedule from that point.

INDOOR OFFROAD TRACK REBUILD

The indoor offroad track will be closed from October 6 through October 10th for a complete rebuild. There will be no indoor racing or practice during that time.

REVISED SCHEDULE FOR MARCH 13

Just wanted to let everyone know that open practice on the indoor offroad track will end a little earlier than normal on Sunday, March 13th.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

2016 VENOM OFFROAD JAM & TRACK REBUILD

The 2016 Venom Off-road Jam is approaching fast and that means some schedule adjustments at Fastlane.

We will begin a new layout build after racing on Saturday, Jan 23rd. As a result of the track build and the Venom Jam, there will be no open practice time on the off-road track from Saturday night until Monday, Feb 1st when practice will resume at our normal 4PM opening time.

We will have our normal Wednesday night racing program on January 27.

There will be no carpet racing on Thursday, Jan 28th or Sunday, Jan 31st as we will be using the carpet track room for additional pit space for the Jam.

The hobby shop will be open on our normal schedule during the track build.

Fastlane Hosts Castle Creations 300 on Dec 12 & 13

Thought I'd provide an update on activities this weekend at Fastlane.

We will be hosting the Castle Creations 300 carpet oval event as part of the Johns's BSR Tires Brushless Oval Tour on Saturday and Sunday. The John's BSR Tires Brushless Oval Tour is a traveling series of 7 races in 6 states that runs from October through March.

As a result of hosting this event, there will be no offroad racing this weekend. The indoor offroad track will be closed to racing and practice on Saturday. It will open for practice at 3 PM on Sunday. There will be no carpet onroad racing on Sunday.

The hobby shop will be open our normal hours; Saturday from 10:30 to 7 PM and Sunday 10:30 to 6 PM. In addition, the shop will be open from 6:30 to 9:00 PM on Friday night.

FASTLANE RACEWAY WINTER OFFROAD POINTS SERIES

FASTLANE RACEWAY WINTER OFFROAD POINTS SERIES

Because of the late start this year to our indoor season we will not be splitting the indoor season into fall and winter points series as we have done in the past. There will be one points series for Wednesday nights and a separate points series for Saturdays. Because of special events on weekends, the Saturday series will have fewer dates and will not start until after the first of the year.

Our Wednesday night points series will consist of 9 race nights with a racer's best 7 finishes counting towards points. In the event of a tie we will look to a racer's 8th and 9th finishes to break the tie. Race dates are:

December 2, 12, 30
January 13, 27
February 10, 24
March 9, 23

The Saturday series will consist of 6 race days with a racer's best 5 finishes counting, In the event of a tie a racers 6th finish will be used. Race dates are:

January 9, 23
February 6, 20
March 5, 19

This is probably a good time to make sure our offroad racers know that there will be no offroad racing or practice on Saturday, December 12th. Offroad practice on Sunday, December 13th will not start until 3 PM. We will be hosting the Castle Creations 300 as part of the John's BSR Tires Brushless Racing Tour that weekend. This is the 10th season for the Johns BSR Tires Brushless Racing Tour making it the longest running brushless motor carpet oval series in the country.

OFFROAD TRACK REBUILDS

I want to provide an update on the schedule for our offroad tracks for the next couple of weeks at Fastlane.

We will be changing the layout of our outdoor offroad track in order to get ready for the ROAR Region 8 10th Scale Offroad Championship Final on October 2nd & 3rd. The work on the new layout will begin after racing Saturday, September 26th. As a result, the offroad track will be closed beginning Sunday until the rebuild is complete. We hope to be able to race on it on Wednesday, September 30. There will be no practice on the outdoor track on Thursday, October 1st. As noted, we will be hosting the ROAR Regional on October 2nd & 3rd.

We also need to do some work on the back wall of the indoor track. After several years it is showing signs of rot from the constant contact with wet dirt. The plan is to replace the wood wall with concrete block. We will begin this work following the Regional race and the indoor track will be closed during the work. Right now I expect to close the indoor track on or about September 30th and expect to reopen the track around October 19th. As a result, we will continue racing offroad outdoors through October 17th. While the indoor track is closed; we will turn on the lights at night for those who want to practice on the outdoor track.

We are certainly open to having help with the rebuild of the back wall, especially if any of our racers have experience working with concrete block. I’ll provide more detail on the work schedule later.

2015 Fastlane Summer Showdown POSTPONED

2015 Fastlane Summer Showdown POSTPONED

Well it looks like we are going to have to re-schedule a trophy race for the first time since we built the outdoor offroad track in 2012. We've had a run of good luck until now but Spencer and I agree there is no way we're going to take the track and have it suitable for a trophy race this Saturday (even if we skip Friday practice). So I am very reluctantly postponing the event.

No one wants to run this race more than I do ( I have bills to pay ) but even if we get no more rain today it would be mid-day tomorrow at the earliest before we could get any kind of equipment on the track to finish the build. And, even in that best case scenario, it would probably be mid-day Saturday before we could run on the track. More importantly, the forecast (even Accuweather if you look close) is forecasting a greater than 50% probability of thunderstorms over night and some time tomorrow. I'd rate the chances of being able to run a show on Saturday with 3 Q's and Mains at less than 20%.
We will announce a new date for the event as soon as possible. It's going to be tough to find anything soon that doesn't conflict with events or points series at other tracks nearby. But we will try to avoid these other events if at all possible.

We appreciate the offers of help from racers, the kind words about our efforts and the interest from folks in this event. Weather permitting, we will be working on the track tomorrow afternoon (today is a washout). We will get it in race shape as soon as Mother Nature gives us a break.

We will revert to our normal club race program for this Saturday with racing starting at 4:30 PM and hope to see quite a few more racers there than we had last night. Still have those bills to pay (LOL).

Outdoor Offroad Track Opening

We’re on track for our first day of outdoor racing; Saturday, April 25th. Anthony, Arlynn and I had another productive afternoon (those guys did most of the actual work) raking rocks and dragging / packing the track. We plan at least one more round of drag and pack then we’ll put the pipe down to create pit lane and we should be good to go for Saturday.

A couple of reminders. We’ll switch to our summer schedule this Saturday. We will still open at 10:30 AM but racing will not start until 4:30. We will continue to be closed on Friday’s except for special events. If we are rained out on the outdoor track we will race all the electric classes indoors with the same starting time.

We will run all 10th scale and 8th scale classes on the outdoor track, weather permitting. The only time we will race on the indoor track will be when we are rained out on the outdoor track.

Awesome August Trophy Race

When we first posted our summer schedule it included a To Be Announced special 8th scale event on the first weekend of August. That weekend falls in between the Futaba race and the Region 8 8th scale race in Omaha. Every other weekend in August is already booked so if we have an event it will conflict with something. The lesser of the many "evils" seems to be the last weekend in August which conflicts with the Hobby Haven Shootout for 10th scale cars in Iowa.

So we're announcing our Awesome August Trophy Race for 8th scale and 10th scale 4WD SC on our outdoor track for August 29 & 30. This will be another 2 day event with practice on Friday, August 29th and all Qualifiers and Mains on Saturday, August 30th.

Friday practice (Noon to 9:00 PM), qualifiers and mains on Saturday (practice from 8 - 11 AM open to everyone entered, Qualifiers start at 11:30 AM, Mains follow). Trophies for top 3 in each class and TQ.

We will be open Saturday, July 5th for indoor offroad, outdoor offroad and outdoor dirt oval racing on our normal schedule. Doors open at 10:30 AM; indoor racing starts at 1 PM; outdoor offroad starts at 1:30 PM and outdoor oval starts at 2 PM.

Schedule Revisions

We need to make some adjustments to our schedule for the months of June and July. This has become necessary due to staffing issues and conflicts with other events.

The biggest change will be in our Saturday dirt oval program. We were scheduled to run dirt oval on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month beginning this Saturday, June 7th.

We need to cancel dirt oval for this Saturday due to some manpower issues here at Fastlane and there is an MDRA race at Polecat Raceway on June 21st (which would have been our next scheduled Saturday). As a result, we will not run dirt oval on Saturdays during June and will begin our summer Saturday dirt oval program on July 5th. On that date, the doors will open at 10:30 AM and dirt oval racing will begin at 2 PM.

We also need to make a couple of revisions to our Friday night offroad program. Because we are hosting an MDRA Dirt Oval Points Race on Friday, June 20th; we will not have Friday night offroad on that date. We will also not have Friday night Offroad on Friday night, July 4th.

We will add a Saturday offroad race on June 21st which means we will run 3 Saturdays in a row, June 14th, June 21st and June 28th,

Our schedule for indoor offroad (every Wednesday and Saturday) and Wednesday night outdoor offroad (every Wednesday night) will not change.

We apologize for any inconvenience created by these schedule revisions and hope to see everybody at a race day at Fastlane soon.

Outdoor Track Rebuild

In preparation for the Spring Trophy Race on May 30th & 31st we will be doing a significant track rebuild beginning on May 26th. As a result there will be no practice or racing on the outdoor offroad track Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. May 26th through May 29th. All other tracks will operate on their normal schedule through that time period.

OUTDOOR OFFROAD RACING UPDATE

Just finishing up a great weekend of outdoor offroad racing. We had 50 cars split among 5 classes racing on Friday night and 30 cars split among 4 classes on Saturday for our first points event of the season. The track was in great shape both days. I need to thank Chad Parks, Brian Stiffler, Nick Gibson, Jeremy Cathlina and probably a few others for their hard work on getting the track race ready on race day. Of course, thanks to all who came out and raced and marshalled on both days.

However, we are facing a bit of problem. We've received some complaints about the noise; especially when we run past 11 PM. If we're going to stay out of trouble with the county and our neighbors we're going to have to make some adjustments. We're going to attack the problem in 2 ways and we're going to need some help from our racers to be successful.

First, we need to make some adjustments in the race program. We need to speed up the race program especially when we run at night. It often takes an average of 80 - 90 minutes to run a round which only has 25 or 30 minutes of actual racing.

A lot of that time is spent waiting on racers and marshalls. We need your help in getting back on the track quickly to marshall after your heat. We also need to eliminate "racer minutes" during qualifying rounds. As soon as we have marshalls and the warm up period has expired; we need to start the race whether an individual racer is ready or not.

Another reason for the long average time per round is the time spent watering the track. We've ordered some different equipment to speed up watering (new fire hoses, piping, pump and related equipment). But it's going to take a couple of weeks to get that all set up. In the meantime, we may need to limit how long and how often we take a break to water.

We will also run all nitro heats first on Wednesday and Friday nights. That will allow us to complete the loudest portion of the program earlier.

The second approach to the problem will be some revisions in the PA system. We purchased a sound level meter and I spent a good bit of time on Saturday taking baseline measurements. Unfortunately the county ordinances related to noise don't give a specific decibel level and only refer to unusually loud noise (leaving it open to interpretation). But the sound level meter will let us see how some planned changes affect noise levels on and off the property (it already confirms that Sam is louder than Chris when announcing and we know Garrison would peg the meter). We've already ordered some different types of speakers to try to limit the range of the broadcast and we'll try some different placements on speakers.

You'll notice I mentioned several times purchases we've already made or planned. We will obviously need your continued support of Fastlane through racing and parts purchases in order to pay for those purchases. It's going to take some investment by us, cooperation from our racers and support of our business by the RC community but I think we can successfully deal with the noise issue and continue the night time outdoor racing programs at Fastlane.

Fastlane Raceway Holiday Schedule

Happy Holidays to everyone from Fastlane Raceway. Here is our schedule over the Christmas and New Years period.

We will observe our normal hours and race schedule except:

- We will be closed on Dec 24th, Dec 25th and Dec 31st.

- We will race on Wednesday, Jan 1, 2014. Wednesday is our normal race night so what better way to start the new year than with some RC racing. We will open at 3:30 PM and start racing at 6 PM, an hour earlier than normal. That should allow us to wrap up at a reasonable hour before folks head back to work after the New Year's Day holiday.

Once again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Fastlane Raceway.

Thanksgiving Week Schedule

We will be closed on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, and Friday. We will follow our normal schedule otherwise. Off road points races on Wednesday and Saturday. Carpet on road on Tuesday and Sunday.

We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and to let you know we are thankful for your support of Fastlane.

Fall 2013 Off Road Points Series

As we did last year, we'll be having separate points series for Wednesday and Saturday race days. Because we're getting a later start, every Wednesday and Saturday from Nov 6th until Dec 21st will be a points race. That will give us 7 points dates for each series. We'll count a racers best 5 finishes from those 7 dates towards the points championship. Finishes 6 & 7 will be used as tie breakers if needed.

There will be trophies for the top 3 in each class. There will also be an end of season drawing for 3 gift certificates to Fastlane ($100, $75 and $50). Each time you enter an event you will get an entry into the drawing.

The points series sparked a lot of interest last year and some close competition. It should add a little "spice" to race days this fall as well.

2013-2014 Carpet Oval Points Series

We will be having a Sunday Carpet Oval Points Series consisting of the following dates: Nov 10, Dec 8, Jan 5, Feb 9th, Mar 16th and April 13th. A racer's best 4 finishes will count towards the points championship with the 5th and 6th finish counting as the tie breaker if needed.

Expected classes will be:

BRL 17.5 Truck (we will use the BRL handout motors for the points series)
BRL 13.5 Stock Spec ( we will use the BRL handout motors for this class as well).
Breakout oval - laps below 5.000 sec will not count
Stock Slash Modified - same rules as we used outdoors, stock Slash tires
Street Stock - MDRA rules except must use ROAR legal motor and foam tires. Must use buggy shocks, may use any springs.
13.5 Late Model - MDRA rules except foam tires
Open Sprint - MDRA rules except foam tires

All wings and spoilers must have radiused corners to prevent digging into the carpet. Any exposed shock towers on Sprint cars must have mounting nuts on back side so there is no forward facing screw end to dig into carpet.

Tuesday Night Oval Rained Out

Looks like we're rained out for dirt oval tonight (Sept 17). Rain's still coming down and there isn't enough sun forecast for any time today to dry it out. Doesn't look like there is any way to get the track ready for racing tonight. That's a real bummer, I was looking forward to another great night of dirt oval racing.....

We are scheduled for dirt oval this Saturday (racing starts at 1 PM). Hopefully many of you will be able to make it and get some testing and tuning done before next weekend's MDRA finals.

Next weekend, Sept 13, 14 & 15 will be a busy one for Fastlane. In addition to hosting the RC Pro Series Missouri State Championship Finals, we will be participating in the annual Blue Springs Fall Fun Festival. We will be operating a track for kids of all ages to try their hand at driving a Traxxas Slash. If you have friends that have always wanted to try driving an RC car tell them about this opportunity to drive for free. We'll be setting up 5 lap races around a pretty simple course throughout the 3 days of the festival.

As a result there will be no outdoor offroad racing on Saturday and there will be no outdoor offroad practice on Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday of next week as Spencer does his track work. We expect to be racing outdoors next Wednesday night to shake down the new layout.

Schedule ahead of ROAR Region 8 Championship

Sorry folks, I should have posted earlier that the outdoor offroad track will be closed on Monday and Tuesday nights, no practice those nights. Tuesday - carpet onroad and dirt oval racing. Practice on indoor offroad track.
Wednesday - indoor offroad racing, possibly outdoor as well.
Thursday - carpet oval racing, indoor offroad practice. No outdoor practice.

Transponder Compatibility at Fastlane

Many racers are aware that MyLaps (formerly AMB) has a virtual monopoly on RC scoring systems and transponders. Their only real competition has been a small company in England, MRT, which made transponders which were compatible with the MyLaps scoring systems.

MyLaps recently introduced a new, upgraded scoring decoder system and transponder. In part to try to push MRT out of the RC timing business, the newest MyLaps decoder system will not count existing MRT transponders. To force tracks to upgrade to their newest decoder systems they have also made it so that older MyLaps and AMB scoring decoder systems will not count the newest MyLaps RC4 transponder (easily identified because it has 3 wires instead of 2 as the older ones did). They are also discontinuing support for their older scoring systems.

This puts tracks and racers in a bind. As more and more racers purchase the newest RC4 transponder we will have problems with our older systems not being able to count these transponders. On the other hand, if we upgrade our systems, racers who are using existing MRT transponders won't be counted by the new system. MyLaps does offer a trade in program where MRT users can get a new RC4 transponder (3 wire type) at a heavily discounted price. But if your track hasn't upgraded then the RC4 won't count either.

MRT has already redesigned their transponders and they offer a new transponder which is compatible with the new MyLaps system as well as older MyLaps and AMB systems. They are also offering a trade-in program which requires the return of your existing MRT transponder but allows you to obtain a new MRT transponder at a significant discount.

Fastlane has decided we must upgrade our systems so that we are able to get service and support in the event we have a problem in the future and to be able to count the new MyLaps transponders. We are fortunate to have multiple systems so we will upgrade in steps which will allow us to continue to count existing MRT's for some time. But eventually all of our scoring systems will be updated to the new MyLaps system. When this upgrade is finished, older MRT transponders won't count on our new systems. But all MyLaps (or AMB) transponders will work with these new systems as will the new MRT transponder (PTXNS).

To help racers with this transition we have made arrangements with MRT to do the exchange program locally. Racers can exchange their existing MRT transponders for one of the new MRT transponders which are compatible with the new MyLaps systems here at Fastlane for $40. These transponders will be compatible with old and new MyLaps (AMB) scoring systems so they should work at all tracks using MyLaps (AMB) scoring systems. The new MRT (PTXNS) transponder will also be available for $85 w/o exchange. We expect our first shipment of these new MRT transponders to arrive very soon.

Racers have the following options:

1. Racers with red personal transponders with only 2 wires exiting the transponder do not need to do anything. Your transponders are either AMB or older MyLaps transponders and should work fine on both old and new timing decoder boxes.

2. Racers with red personal transponders with 3 wires have the new RC4 MyLaps transponder and this will work only at tracks who have updated their timing decoder box.

3. Racers with black transponders or other original MRT transponders must upgrade in order to have the transponder count at tracks with the upgraded MyLaps system. You can do this a number of ways:

a. Ship your MRT transponder to MRT in England for an updated MRT which works with old and new decoders and pay $32 plus $15 in return freight and freight to get it there.

b. Trade in your MRT transponder at Fastlane for $40 plus tax.

c. Trade in your MRT transponder to MyLaps and pay $82.46 plus shipping for an RC4 Hybrid which will work on old and new decoders.

d. Trade in your MRT transponder to MyLaps and pay $35.98 for an RC4 transponder (3 wire type) which will only work at tracks with an upgraded decoder.

We apologize for the inconvenience, confusion and expense created by MyLaps business policies. In the end, tracks will have little choice except to upgrade or they won't be able to count the many racers buying the new MyLaps RC4 transponder. This creates an expense for tracks and racers alike which benefits no one but MyLaps.

ROAR Region 8 Outdoor Offroad Championships

Fastlane is hosting the ROAR Region 8 Offroad Championships for 8th scale nitro and electric buggy and truggy as well as 10th scale 4WD Short Course Trucks on August 23rd, 24th and 25th.

For ROAR Championships, all cars of a given type (example; nitro 8th scale buggy) typically run in a single class without being split into groups like Sportsman, Expert, etc. To provide recognition to driver's of various skill levels, Fastlane will be awarding trophies to the top 5 finishers in each Main. So even if you can't make the A Main against the top competition you'll have a chance to race for trophies against other racers who've qualified at a similar speed. We will seed the initial qualifying heats based on practice times and resort after the 2nd round of qualifying.

We've kept entry fees low for this 3 day event to encourage participation and partly offset the cost of ROAR membership which is required for this event. Weekend and annual memberships will be available at the track.

The event is available for signup now at www.rcsignup.com.

Tuesday Night Dirt Oval Cancelled - May 28th

I really wanted to race tonight especially after the slow Memorial Day weekend business wise. But Mother Nature isn't cooperating. We got a couple of inches of rain yesterday and now it's raining again. Hope to see the oval guys next Tuesday night. The forecast for that night looks promising at the moment.

Outdoor Season Ending October 14th

Indoor racing, outdoor racing. Who's doing what?
It's that time of year where confusion abounds surrounding our racing program. The weather may be good enough to race outside. It may not. Who knows and who can plan?
To reduce the confusion, it is time to put end dates up for outdoor racing.
For our outdoor offroad racing, we will be prepared to race for 2 more Friday nights (Oct 3rd & 10th) depending on interest and weather. After that we will not schedule outdoor racing until the spring. The track will be available for practice during daylight hours but we will not be performing routine maintenance each week as we do during the summer.
For outdoor dirt oval racing, we will race for 2 more Tuesday nights following completion of our points series tonight (Oct 7 & 14). As is the case with the outdoor offroad track, the dirt oval will be available for practice during daylight hours after those dates.
Our thanks to everyone who raced with us this outdoor season as well as to the guys who build and maintain our tracks, Spencer, Anthony, Chad, et all.

TRACK REBUILD SCHEDULE

We are going to rebuild the indoor offroad track beginning after racing this Saturday night. This means there will be no practice on the offroad track on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday (Jan 12, 13 & 14). We would normally wait for the rebuild until right before the Venom Offroad Jam but a variety of circumstances make it necessary to do the rebuild early. We apologize for the late notice of the rebuild and the impact on practice.

Come on out Saturday for the last day of racing on this layout.

Jan 8th, 2014 (9:23 PM)

Schedule during the week of May 6th

The outdoor offroad track will be closed to all practice until Friday morning at 10 AM when practice for Round 2 of the North Division of the RC Pro Series will begin.

Indoor offroad track schedule will be the same during the week days as every week, racing on Wednesday, practice on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. No indoor offroad racing this Saturday. Call before coming for practice on Sunday to be sure there is pit space available during the Pro Series race.

We'll be working on the outdoor offroad track beginning about 1 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday as weather permits.
